Quick comment
This transcript from the ABC media report discusses the media issue of am Arab television show that has created much controvercy in society. The TV program is called ' Noor and Mohannad' and can be identified as a "phenomenon in the Arab world". The show has actually been produced in Turkey but dubbed into the Arabic language. The report highlights their controversial aspects mainly being that the main characters are Muslims but drink alcohol, go to nightclubs and have non-maritial sex. This is a serious issue that the program is so widely viewed in the Middle East and has the potential to negatiley influence individuals against their religion. This issue relates back to week 7 blog post on the 'Underbelly ' issue as it is another example where a Television show poses a negative threat in society. Furthemore, the report also suggests that perhaps such a program will alter the status of women in Palestinian territories due to this Soapie activities and desire to rebel against religion.
Concepts from my course work that inform my perspective on this item
This is quite a senstive topic and shows that their needs to obviously be some form of audience, context and purpose when producing such a show, due to the religious context of the country-being highly Muslim populated. Also the Field, tenor and mode has not been considered to figure out if the content of the show is appropriate.
Showing off my expertise/wider reading/ability to match up issues, theories and concepts with a longer comment, hyperlinks and references

I enjoyed reading this blog post, it presents many ethical media issues that could be widely explored.
The main ideas that came to my mind as i was reading was the notion that while these people live in a completely different society to ours, they still face the same issues of censorship and general life issues (sex, alcohol etc) that we do.
It intrigues me that Muslim countries are so adamant about protecting their cultures from western products, shows and influence etc, yet they have their own version of what is typically a western concept for a television show. It strikes me as funny that this show would be allowed for viewing at all.
As Pretzel mentioned, the tenor, field and mode needs to be properly considered for a show such as this and the audience, context and purpose needs to be analysed to ensure the show is being viewed in a positive way for the Muslim society.
